Candidates must apply for vacancies in only one State or Union Territory. The selected State or UT also determines the language proficiency requirement and examination centres available to the applicant.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India. An equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government is also acceptable.

The candidate’s graduation result must have been declared on or before 21 August 2026. Applicants should possess a valid degree certificate or final marksheet while completing the online application.

Computer Knowledge

Operating and working knowledge of computer systems is mandatory.

A candidate should have:

  • A certificate, diploma or degree in computer operations or computer language, or

  • Studied Computer Science, Information Technology or a related computer subject at school, college or another recognised institution.

Local Language Proficiency

Candidates should be able to read, write, speak and understand the official language prescribed for the State or Union Territory for which they are applying.

Applicants who cannot provide proof of having studied the specified language may be required to undergo a Local Language Proficiency Test before joining the allotted bank.

  3. Select the link for new registration.

  4. Enter your name, mobile number and email address.

  5. Note the provisional registration number and password.

  6. Fill in personal, educational, category and communication details.

  7. Select the State or Union Territory for which you want to apply.

  8. Enter participating bank preferences carefully.

  9. Upload the photograph, signature, thumb impression and handwritten declaration.

  10. Preview the complete application form.

Each section is separately timed. Candidates must qualify according to the sectional and overall cut-offs decided by IBPS. Preliminary marks are used for shortlisting candidates for the Main examination and are not added to the final merit score.

The official CRP CSA-XVI notification shows 40 questions in Quantitative Aptitude and a total Main-examination duration of 125 minutes. Candidates should avoid preparing according to older 155-question patterns circulated on some websites.

Negative Marking

There is a penalty for incorrect answers in both online examinations.

For every incorrectly answered question, one-fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted. No penalty is applied when a question is left unanswered.

IBPS Clerk Selection Process

The selection process includes:

  1. Online Preliminary Examination

  2. Online Main Examination

  3. Local Language Proficiency Test, where applicable

  4. Document and eligibility verification

  5. Medical examination according to the allotted bank’s requirements

  6. Provisional allotment

There is no interview stage in IBPS Customer Service Associate recruitment. The Preliminary examination is qualifying, while the Main examination score is used for final merit and provisional allotment.

Pre-Examination Training

IBPS may arrange Pre-Examination Training for eligible candidates belonging to specified categories.

The abbreviation PET in the notification schedule refers to Pre-Examination Training. It should not be confused with the Preliminary Examination.

Pre-Examination Training is expected in September 2026, while the online Preliminary examination is scheduled for 10 and 11 October 2026.

Salary and Pay Scale

Selected Customer Service Associates are placed in the clerical pay scale applicable to participating public sector banks.

The notified basic pay scale begins at approximately ₹24,050 and may progress up to ₹64,480 through scheduled increments. Selected candidates may also receive dearness allowance, house-rent allowance, transport allowance and other benefits according to the rules of the allotted bank.

Actual monthly earnings depend on the posting city, participating bank and applicable allowances.
