RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 - 11,127 Assistant Loco Pilot Vacancies
The Railway Recruitment Boards released the detailed notification for RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 under Centralised Employment Notice CEN 01/2026. This recruitment drive has announced 11,127 Assistant Loco Pilot vacancies across different RRBs and railway zones.
Online applications were accepted from 15 May to 14 June 2026. The fee-payment deadline was 16 June, while the application modification window remained open from 17 to 26 June 2026. Applicants were allowed to choose only one RRB. The selected RRB could not be changed after submitting the application.
Educational Qualification
Candidates were required to possess the prescribed qualification on or before the application closing date. Candidates awaiting their final result were not eligible.
An applicant must have passed Matriculation or SSLC along with one of the following technical qualifications:
ITI from an NCVT or SCVT recognised institution in an eligible trade; or
Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in an eligible trade; or
Three-year Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or Automobile Engineering, including recognised combinations of these streams; or
Engineering Degree in the above disciplines in place of the diploma.
Eligible ITI and Apprenticeship Trades
Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright or Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic Radio and TV, Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature and Coil Winder, Mechanic Diesel, Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist and Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Mechanic.

Only candidates who actually appear in CBT-1 are eligible for the applicable fee refund. Payment was accepted online through internet banking, debit card, credit card or UPI.
A-1 Medical Standard
The Assistant Loco Pilot post carries a stringent A-1 medical standard. Candidates must satisfy the prescribed vision and physical fitness requirements. The notification clearly states that candidates found medically unsuitable will not receive an alternative appointment.
PwBD candidates are not eligible because the post is marked not suitable for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities.
Candidates should carefully check the official vision and medical requirements before preparing for later stages.
Final medical fitness is decided by the Railway Medical Authorities.
Candidates may be required to submit prescribed self-screening medical declarations at the CBAT stage.

Medical Examination
CBT-1 is a screening examination. Its marks are not counted in the final panel. Final merit is prepared using 50% weightage from CBT-2 Part A and 50% weightage from CBAT, subject to qualification in all required stages.

Part A covers Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and Basic Science and Engineering. Part B contains questions from the candidate's selected trade and requires 35% marks for every category.
Computer-Based Aptitude Test
Candidates up to eight times the vacancies may be shortlisted RRB-wise and category-wise.
CBAT is conducted only in English and Hindi.
There is no negative marking in CBAT.
Candidates must obtain a minimum T-score of 42 in every test battery separately.
Part A of CBT-2 and CBAT receive equal 50:50 weightage in final merit.
